U.S. Women Sweep Italy to Take Grand Prix Lead

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 26, 2010) – Destinee Hooker (San Antonio, Texas) totaled a match-high 17 points in leading the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team to a 25-23, 25-20, 25-14 victory over Italy on Thursday afternoon during the second day of FIVB World Grand Prix Final Round competition in Ningbo, China.
Team USA, now 2-0 in the Final Round and on an overall eight-match win streak, faces two-time defending champion Brazil at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 (12:30 a.m. Pacific Time) in its next match before playing host China on Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. (4:30 a.m. Pacific Time). The Americans conclude the Final Round on Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. (11 p.m. Pacific Time on Aug. 28). The FIVB World Grand Prix Final Round is a five-day, six-team round-robin event being played Aug. 25-29
