Posted - 02/04/2003 : 9:39:36 PM Congratulations to Irondquoit in their win over R-H. It was a fantastic game. R-H played great as we've seen them play in the previous weeks and put up a great fight to the end. Congratulations to both teams on a great season and good luck in the Semi's Irondequoit!!! |

so...fairport beat hilton in three...
Queen, i guess your "Go Hilton!" didn't work...
Did you not read my last post? It wasnt about Hilton winning, it was about them making it a good game. It was about them losing their first game and not throwing in the towel and calling it quits but still playing and facing their challenge. Their team just wasnt as talented as Fairport, and didnt catch the breaks. Wow, I didnt know my little post was so empowering.

Posted - 02/08/2003 : 8:42:59 PM OH 13. "keep the busses running H-town" I was there. I was impressed by the heart & effort that the Hilton kids put into the match. Although undersized & less experienced, they fought the whole match. Do not demean Hilton's effort. Fairport, who is this season's success story, responded to the challenge and to Fairport's credit, Fairport won. As they've done all season. Fairport's strategy of keying their serves on one of Hilton's passers worked masterfully & surprisingly, Hilton didn't adapt. I was also impressed with the use of the short serve, as well as the power. Too many teams are serving deep, when there's that big hole in the middle of the court. & yes, I was also pleased to see some banging jump serves, not the roll variety - looked like a near 6-pack to me. It was truly an exciting match. Quite often, teams are afraid, try too hard or are overwrought when playing the favorite, & don't play up to ability. Hilton, however, did't back down and instead put up a battle, where they had their opportunities. That, me bucko, is to be respected.
And again the same thing is to be said for Irondequoit, Olympia, & Spencerport. Whether or not, they made it to the finals. The effort of those athletes is to be respected. No ifs, ands, or buts. Each squad gives it their all, and afterwards both squads are to be admired. It is not easy to end your high school career, whether you win or lose, but it is great to remember, enjoy, & savor those moments, as the years tick away and the memories of the good times flow. So, save your nasty comments & praise the effort, my friend, as you would hope we praised yours.

Posted - 02/06/2003 : 12:54:44 PM I dont really care who wins. I just wanna cheer for Hilton cuz I'm hoping it's a good game. I have yet to see a team take on Fairport and act as if they arent afraid to play them. (In season matches) |

Posted - 02/05/2003 : 10:01:46 PM Two senior led squads. Serving might give Hilton a chance (if they were to serve aggressively & in), but lacking a mobile Cori Mosher @ outside & already being severely out-sized, it is a big if... Even if Hilton has heart, desire, grit & momentum on their side. Fairport has it too.

Posted - 02/04/2003 : 11:13:03 PM Hilton won in 5. Great match. Hilton captilized on Penfield mistakes to win the first 2 games. Penfield battled back to win the next 2 games. Hilton showed a lot of grit in winning game 5. Best of luck to Hilton the rest of the way.
