Read this today:
The Empire State Games, which took the year off this year, will return next year and Rochester has been selected to host the event in 2011.

New York State officials made the announcement today.

The games are one of the largest amateur athletic programs in the country. Each year, more than 6,000 athletes take part in Olympic-style sports.

Aside from the athletes, the games could bring in anywhere from 15,000 to 20,000 spectators.

The UR, Nazareth College and SUNY Brockport will be among the venues for the various events.

Is this still a prestigious tournament like it once was? I know it has been gone for a few years and was wondering if you still get the turnout for this event.
