Any of the Rochester teams who aren't planning on playing because of ride issues, let me know and I can give you one.

I'm assuming most can get a hold of my cell #, but if not my email is [email protected]

I've told quite a few about it, but I am out due to injury. I plan on stopping down though.

Wonder if the NOVA fee has anything to do with it. I've paid it the last 2 years playing in one tourney up in Roch with plans to get back but never getting around to it. With another one set up in August, there should be no excuse not to play.

Could be that Summervolleyball Series is slow to get off the ground this year with Don Z.'s departure.

I'll see what I can drum up.

I think you forget that the closest beach where people play volleyball to the city is a 45 min to an hour drive. Not exactly convienent for cruising down to play pick up. If it were located more centrally, I think you would see more people playing at the beach. I try to get young kids to play beach. I finally got them to at least set up and play grass doubles.

So Buffalo folks wont drive 45 mins to play yet players from Rochester will gladly drive about 90 mins to play.

Dedication???

maybe he means driving 45 minutes to play every weekend or after work isn't too convenient. We are pretty lucky to have a beach so close, and one that is so friendly to volleyball.

Make all the excuses you want......it's still very weak to see such a small turnout for a beach tournament in Buffalo.

I seem to remember quite a few Buffalo guys that used to play pretty much every weekend back in the day......and they never whined about having to drive 45 minutes to play.

So sad.........

yeah, that's what i'm talking about. Why play in tournaments when you're not practicing at least 2 to 3 times per week? What, to get pummeled by guys that are playing pick up all the time? We don't have a Hot Shots either where good beach ball can be played year round. As far as beach goes, you guys have it good. I can say that the turnout in Rochester isn't a third of what it was 10 to 15 years ago. Good players? Yes. But not the 10 courts of pick up that we had going. Where are all the Rochester players? The beach is right there.

An hour down, and a half hour to set up on A Tuesday night is just not realistic. As far as dedication? I played every weekend for 9 years. I just don't care to play anymore. Honestly, if I lived closer to the beach, I would probably play more pick up. Weekends are for golf. A LOT of the older players out here are coaching club and preparing for Nationals. The college kids should be playing more at the beach, no doubt. Maybe they can't afford the gas? Who knows.
It's certainly not a lack of trying from coaches.

I've lived in both towns. It's just a totally different beach game mentality. I don't think so many people would be playing in Rochester if a group of people didn't start making it a ritual back in the mid to late 80's. Maybe that's what we need here???

"As far as dedication? I played every weekend for 9 years."

That was like 47 third places.
