What is the proper protocol for setting up a net at Charlotte beach? Where, when, etc? Are there Monroe County rules, and are they enforced? Any info would be appreciated.

I would imagine that setting up too close to league play is sort of rude. If you set up in front of the steps where the lifeguards are headquartered you will be asked to move. they need a clear path to the water. Usually follow the convention that your court be parallel to the boardwalk so you aren't pelting passers by or chasing down a ball that could be going toward the water. but if you're silly enough to set your net up that close your ball deserves to get wet. |

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights is when most of the pick up ball happens. It usually starts around 4:30 and runs till the boardwalk lights turn on.
Most of the nets are set up in the middle of the beach, parallel and close to the boardwalk. If the lifeguards give you any trouble, just ignore them, they don't have any real power a all....... |
