Great Job! You watch out for those Hawaiians. They'll charm you with lei's and then pound you into the ground. Kick some butt. Kudos to the team and their coach! |

Thanks for the kudos. Had to play the Iowa (eventual champ) match way too soon after Hawaii thriller---lots of mental errors early (including 7 sevice errors in 1st game) before we began to settle down too late. Difficult for small kids to continue to fight through mental and physical fatigue--less margin for error.
Girls played incredibly, especially giving Northern Lights its only loss of the tourney and beating last year's champs, Hawaii Rainbows. In both cases, as the match wore on, the crowd around the court grew and grew. That's when it's really fun!
Placed two kids on the All-American team: libero Emily Litwin and setter Heather Feldman...(but others played just as well.) These two plus Lauren Metzger and Kendall Pierce, who were selected to the High Performance A2 Competition teams to train and compete in Tucson, AZ for International Competition this summer, will represent the club and WNY well. Look out for 1st-year club MB Bridget Shanahan whose game grew by leaps and bounds this week.
Nothing but a pleasure to coach this group. Great kids; great teammates. The future's bright. |

Congrats to Raider and the NFVB 15s. You guys had some ups and downs this year, but its a testimony to your coaching and the heart of those girls to peak at the right time.
The list of teams you finished ahead of (as noted above) is certainly impressive as we saw many of those teams during the year at Qualifiers.
Awesome job, it was fun practicing with you this year.
Great job!!! |

I think Pierce put a team in the Gold bracket a couple years ago, if I remember correctly. But for sure this is the first team to medal.
How did Downstate finish up? I think they were the only other NY club at Nationals this year. IREVA and the rest of NY has got to start finding ways to represent. |

Capital; i believe that Downstate 18's gave up their bid as did Volley FX 18's due to Graduation conflicts and the schedule of the Tournament
The USAV and JDVA need to get together and bring back a true National Championship. Truly a shame not to have SPVB, Munciana, Team Z, Celtic Force, 1st Alliance, Sky High, KIVA, Milwaukee Sting, Dayton Jr's, MAVA, Illini Elite, Club Fusion, Sunshine, Renaissance PGH, St Louis CYC ....... in attendance at the Nationals. You could truly see a downturn in quality at the Qualifiers without these major Clubs in attendance
There has got to be a way to bring back a true National Championship by bringing these 2 together. |

Well, we were either in tourneys with nearly all these teams during the year or played them directly (on more than one occasion). Although some of the teams mentioned above were JDVA members, only the the Ohio Valley, IN, and KY teams eschewed Nationals altogether. CYC and Sunshine just didn't win bids. Neither were better than their Regional counterparts: Laguna, Santa Barabara, City Beach, Rockwood Thunder, Southwest Illinois--they were at Nationals. As for us, we beat 3 teams who ended up in Open this year and more than a couple top JDVA teams (Club Fusion & Dayton Juniors, mentioned above, to name two). The split meant nothing to us. JDVA isn't doing NY teams any kindness by starting their entire tourney before NY schools end. |

I already knew about the 18's. I meant the other age groups. I thought Downstate sent some teams. I know Ireva rarely sends anyone. |
