I remember a few years ago, Jim Mercer was telling me about Gold Medal Squared clinic. From what I remember, it is a top notch coach's clinic where they treat you like a player. Has anyone else gone through the clinic?
I am thinking about going to the one being held in Riverside, CA in June.
GM2 clinics are great for any coach. After talking to Hugh McCutcheon at the AVCA convention his advice to coaches is to learn as many systems as you can and to use the system that works best for your team. Too many times he's seen coaches get skullblocked on a certain technique or system of play that is incompatible with the personnel they have. I can't remember if you can bring a video camera or not, but the staff is great and the experience is wonderful as well.
I have been to a couple of coaching clinics and I think that the one GM2 puts out is one of the best. I went to one with Carl and Chris McGowan, a couple of years back, and they were very detailed and informative. They give you a packet and they go step by step in the process of how they do things and most importantly the why. Alot of their philosophy is based on statistics and you will definitely think to yourself, "Oh I see that." It totally changed the way I do things coachingwise.
Hey if the program has now produced 3 gold medals it can't be that bad.
