What were the finishes at the Jr. Beach Tourney on Sunday? The big prize was the trip to Cali to compete in the National competition--$1500-$2500 bucks per team, something like that? How did it end up? A couple of lucky 18 yr olds in the boys and girls divisions? |

Wasn't there a reply posted earlier that answered my question or at least part of it?...or am I imagining it? Did it get deleted? Anyway, anyone know the Gold medal round results? Maybe the Hotshots people can put some things up. |

Great article!! I hope the girls have a great time and represent western New York well. It is going to be an eye opening experience playing in the deep Huntington sand against players that train on the beach the way western New York players train for indoors.
Good Luck ladies!!! |

Deep sand? Huntington? Oh yeah, I forgot, you guys play on the east end these days don't you. Pretty nice down at Huntington today. Families might want to go to Hermosa for the Avp on their off day. It is up in Hermosa this weekend. That's always impressive. Beware the traffic, though. And I don't know about that training either, Voice, most beach high school kids just live at the beach 24/7 during the summer, playing 5 to 6 games a day.
& most high school teams started practicing last week. In So Cal, the high school volleyball coaches usually decide teams in June and then only have to give their players three weeks off during the summer.
Funnily enough tho, SCVA passed a tournament series this season, creating a club volleyball schedule, so now there are at least 4 different groups hosting beach volleyball junior teams this summer (all that I know of.) CBVA, AAU, SCVA (http://www.clubbeachvolleyball.com/) and USA. May be more. Only advice I give anyone coming out is to bring the sand sox. It is that time of the year when the sand can be blistering and since it hasn't rained in a three or four months, the sand gets hot fast. |

Raider, If your girls have extra time on your hands this weekend, there's this in Irvine, about 20-30 minutes from Huntington. Of course, there are also so many other fun things to do.
