45 juniors teams took to the beach this past Saturday to take part in the 1st ever juniors only tournament at Charlotte Beach. A beautiful day in Rochester saw some strong volleyball competition at every level.
The tournament marked the 1st back-to-back girls champions of the season by #1 seed Jenn Segar (Mercy) and Kaitlin Costello (Mercy). They beat Buffalo's Kendall Pierce (Eden) and Hannah Herc (Eden) 30-27 in an exciting back and forth final. The heat and humidity were felt by both teams forcing all 4 players to fight through dehydration and exhaustion just to simply finish the final.
The boys draw saw a dominating performance by the #4 seed Dave Evans (Penfield) and Dan Glamack (Victor) as they rolled through the competition for their 1st win of the season. Strong serving and big net play highlighted their run to the finals. For the 2nd week in a row EJ Wells-Spicer (Nazareth) and Matt Elgin (Vassar) came up just short as they took home consecutive 2nd place finishes.

Thanks all who played this past weekend. The next NOVA tournament is this Sunday, June 27th. It's Harborfest at Charlotte Beach with lots of food vendors, arts and crafts exhibits and carnival rides.
