Dalhausser, Rogers Named USA Today’s Team of the Week

Dalhausser, Rogers win fourth gold medal, named athletes of the week The top-ranked beach volleyball team of Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.) defeated Brazil's Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego to win their fourth 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal. Dalhausser and Rogers won five elimination matches before beating Cerutti and Rego 21-15, 14-21, 15-11 in the 55-minute final. They are USA TODAY's athletes of the week.
Among other highlight performances last week in Olympics sports:
The U.S. women's national volleyball team bested Trinidad & Tobago 25-17, 25-9, 25-11 at the IX Women's Pan American Cup in Mexico. Both teams were undefeated going into the game.
Jordan Larson (Hooper, Neb.) scored 10 points; Cynthia Barboza (Long Beach, Calif.) scored nine points. Larson tallied eight kills on 17 attacks and Barboza tallied nine kills on 16 swings.
Also contributing were Heather Bown (Yorba Linda, Calif.) who had five kills on eight swings with three blocks. Christa Harmotto (Aliquippa, Pa.) had seven points (six kills and one block). Foluke Akinradewo (Plantation, Fla.) converted four of six attempts into kills with a block. Nancy Metcalf (Hull, Iowa) had five points (three kills and two blocks). Courtney Thompson (Kent, Wash.) had a block and an ace.
