At a recent match, a red card was given to a player at the end of the match. Since the game was over, there were no consequences at that time.
Since it is my understanding that a red card results in a next game suspension for soccer, is this the case in Section V girls volleyball?
Thanks

No, in volleyball a red card is only a penalty. In most cases a point for the other team. A player would have to get a "Disqualification" (fighting or physical aggression) for Section V to make a player have to sit out their next match. |

However, I recently saw that in a D-I college game, a red card was issued to a team that had just won a set (not the match) for possibly overdone celebration (hard to tell the exact offense). Even though they had just won the set 25-20, a point was then added to the opponent's final score--25-21. I wonder if our HS rules would result in the same. |

Defender, I dont know the circumstances surrounding the red card, I would hope that the coach would apply a consequence for the behavior. |

If the player was being a jerk - have her sit a game. If the ref was being a jerk... |

Thanks for the information. It was the last point of the match and she was on the losing team. I agreed with a red card, but I don't think that it was enough for disqualification as the posts seem to indicate.
Again, thanks. |
