New divisional line-ups...... for geographic reasons I feel it has helped certain teams for sectionals and hurt others! Is it fair to award a team in divsion 1 or 2 AA sectional points for league match where they didnt schedule it being only a A school for sectionals? We tried to play the toughest schedule possible but beacuse we HAD to play HFL twice and BATAVIA twice they are both BB schools, we get a 4 averaged into our sectional points! So we win last night and drop sectional points. I believe something needs to be done about this system. If you schedule a crossover or NON league match with a team then you earn the sectional points gained or lost, but this should not hinder your overall record because you leauge makes you play in a certain division based upon geographical locations!

It makes it interesting also when some of these schools wont schedule you during regular season! In my opinion and it is my opinion If you play in divison 1 or 2 and you are a A for sectionals you should only be recieving A sectional points for league wins, if you schedule outside the division for crossover games then you may recieve the higher points (AA). If you play in Divison 3 and are made to play B or BB schools you should be awarded A sectional points for divisonal wins unless you schedule outside your league for a crossover match!

This is just CRAZY to me!!

Not sure there is a fool-proof system, but all these systems are clearly flawed. In Section VI, we count ONLY Division match results. A Class B school receives 4 points for a win over another B school, 5 points for a win over an A school, 6 points for AA. Conversely, you get only 3 points for a win over a C school, 2 for a D school. Since we play in a Division that has mostly C schools and no A, every year, we end up at best the 3rd or 4th seed going in. I might be able to recall only once getting the #1 seed. Some years, we'd beat a very weak city school that went 10-2 in the city league (but who were ranked #1 to our #4, and the paper would call it an "upset." Since many coaches do not really pay attention to teams outside their own league and/or do not get out to see these teams, and since creating some computerized RPI is out of the question, managing seeding by a committee's determination (discussions, polls, looking at overall strength of schedule, head-to-heads, etc) is out of the question. Besides, you'd have to deal with the headache of so many teams crying foul at the committee's decisions. It's also why the State committee seeds the Final Four via a yearly rotation. Section V/VI representative in Class A was the 2nd seed in 2009, so in 2010 it will be the 3rd seed, 2011 the 4th, etc. Keep it all within a rigid system, however flawed, and no one can cry favoritism, discrimination, etc.

It is what it is. This is I am sure one of reasons Victor and CA ultimately left FL East. CA's last year in FL east they were undefeated but because they played all B schools in the league, they were the four seed. Obviously one of, if not the best team, but they were the four seed. Class B, as well as A, gets muddled with city teams whose play is not at the same level as in other areas, yet they earn many points and have higher seeds than more qualified teams and always go out of sectionals in the first rounds. Not great but the system that exists.
