the top 3 in each division, no particular order
Division 1
1) Penfield-always deep, and always ready to play 2) Fairport-still was a sectional finalist, so still top dogs until someone else can knock them off 3) Victor-same, they are state champs, and have a lot of young talent, and they are still state champs until someone knocks them off
Division 2 1) Brockport-will be ready to make it sectional finals again 2) Irondequoit-With Coach Newton, they will be in almost any game 3) Eastridge-should be ready to compete with a nice returning lineup |

Division 2 1) Irondequoit- Well coached with some young talent 2) Eastridge- Well coached, will be battling West Irondequoit to see which is the better suburb 3) Spencerport- Well coached and will always be good |

You can see Brighton being better than Fairport this year? Of course Fairport loses Levermore, but they still have lots of young talent like 2 middles, libero, and outside left (not sure?). And do you also see Spencerport beating brockport? Both teams lost 2 great players and a setter, it will be a battle between who is left, who has a better bench?

The Westside will have a down year with talent seeing that Brockport lost 2 seniors(Chichester,Brawn). Spencerport lost 2 seniors(French,Jongsma) and Hilton lost 2 senios(Davids,Conte).
Im thinking that Gates and Spencerport will be the 2 best teams on the westside. Gear returning for Gates and Rabidoux and Macera returning for Spencerport. By seeing Spencerport play a couple times last year, i think they will have the edge over Gates because of the players around Rabidoux and Macera.
Don't get me wrong, Gear is a great player but he can't do it all himself. |

What about McQuaid?? With players like Christy Blough, Colby Harriman, and Tucker Witter, they should be considered as one of the best teams in section V. Penfield, Brighton and the like are great teams, but McQuaid has an edge over all of them in my opinion |

Actually Gear can do it all. Gear once saved a helpless kitten from a burning building, meanwhile stopping a house robbery from taking place across the street with his go-go-gadget arms, and to top it off, when all that was occurring he was on the phone with the President talking about how to get this country out of debt... |

McQuaid is the class of monroe county...they are head and shoulders above everyone else.
the classes can be found on the section v website, they are the same for this year
class bb will be interesting and wide open this year. Victor might still be the team to beat, with kids playing year round. But unlike years past, they are not the clear cut favorite.

Victor will still take care of Class BB. Brighton will be their only true competition because of the amount of talent they have this year. Not enough of the other Class BB teams have as many weapons as Victor or Brighton. The others teams are good, but have to rely on 1 or 2 players to care them every game. MCQ will also take care of Class A. States is where it will be a battle for section V this year. |

McQuaid will win class A, with Penfield being very good. No one is talking about RH with Ermi as a senior, they will be a tough game.
Victor is still tops in class BB, as far as number 2 spot, Brighton and Brockport Play thursday |

Adler tournament last night, Gates looked like the best team there, Brighton right there too. Biggest improvement was Churchville, their play was pretty good coming off a winless season. |

With McQ losing both Palermo and Lynch, will their other middles be able to compete with talents like Denoncourt and Sutherland? Who else does McQ have in the middle? |

Brighton defeated Brockport in 3. Brockport looked very shaky to begin with, maybe because they had 4 people who have never started before. But they came back a little and looked almost at par with brighton for some parts of the match. Brighton was solid all the way through, lots of very solid hitters. |

Webster Schroeder defeated Cicero-North Syracuse in 3. CNS had some defensive problems (serve receive) but it's nothing abnormal for it only being the beginning of the season. That was a 4:00 match, and there was another scheduled for 6:00 (CNS vs Penfield) that was played at Webster Schroeder but I wasn't able to stay for that one. |

Diponzio is a great player. highly underrated if you ask me. if he was the same player he is now, same skill level and everything, but he played club, people would finally start giving him his props. he's second to Kevin Gear, but so is almost everyone else in the section so that doesn't really say much.
The spencerport Victor game was great, the most intense game i've played in... maybe ever! lots of rallies and big kills going both ways. momentum was changing left and right, and the crowd and both teams could not have been more into it.
Gates comes and plays spencerport in spencerport at 6:00 on tuesday. with both teams coming off big W's it should be a fun game to watch, i know that i really look forward to playing in it. come on out everybody. FREE ADMISSION WOOHOO! and spencerport has a mean concession stand too btw.

its embarrassing to see this site completely picking kids apart. Let the standings, numbers and statistics do the talking considering NONE of you have the information or knowledge on EVERY team or player in section 5.
I've always said high school volleyball is like the MLB...anyone can beat anyone on any given day, and it happens. What I do know is section 5 boys vball is awesome. I can guarantee that there will be players this year that surprise everyone, teams that will come out on top unexpectedly and plenty of upsets....FACT:there already has been 2 surprise wins and its only the beginning

I know right Ill be going to that game! Diponzio is one of those players who shouldnt take easy he is a tough competitor. But each Gear and Diponzio help each other out if one is in a slump and everyone has slumps. So that game will be interesting it will definitely go into 5 game but cant decide who will win. Gates last 2 games went to 5 season and can be three! and Congrats on the win vs Victor must of been crazy |

How can we tell without any results or records anywhere? The Section V link goes to the Victor Boys Volleyball site that doesn't look like it's been updated since last year... |

I think we can all say Mcquaid is the section V "powerhouse" again this year but Penfield and Brighton are just behind them. If Mcquaid slips at all i think Penfield could take the sectional title from them this year |
