It appears so that 3 of the "Top 5" ranked teams in WNY will be playing each other in the 2nd round! Coin tosses tonight and seeds tomorrow. It is what it is for now. Get in your varsity coach's ear and fight for what you believe should be done. The time to act is now. Best of luck in sectionals to all participants.

I guess Lancaster is an automatic L against Clarence in your book? they are pretty good. Don't count them out.
I proposed what I thought was a really good system last year to be proposed. It was greeted with, that's a pretty good idea... try to form a committee and see what can be done.
Good luck to whoever wants to change things. If we change our system, every sport will get to change theirs which is what ECIC will not want to do for every sport.
I personnaly like the way wrestling does their seedings. They have 16 seeds for every weight class and a point system!!! and they don't go by power points. They take into consideration who wins, who beats who, who places high in tournaments against each other adn common opponents, etc... I used this in my 'proposal' last year. I think it is the best one, but I honestly don't think anyone else wants to sit down for hours of work to see it get shelved somewhere b/c it's too progressive.
At least whoever is left has their full team. Hope that your team doesn't come down with the flu at the wrong time. I'd be willing to bet it hits someone this year...

PROBABLY US!!
Yes Brian, The ECIC, NFL, and section 6 will shelve your proposal. It would meet alot of resistance for some good reasons, but mostly bad reasons. That is why a federation is the best answer. A's in one division. B's in another. Only way to make seedings better. Otherwise we have to roll with this. Bottom line. You gotta beat everyone to win anyways. And, since 2001 (when i took over at OP) The best two in A have met in the finals in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006(debatable)., 2007, 2008. 2002 the two best met in semis. 2006 was pretty wide open. 2009 the two best teams will not be in the final in the polls opnion and many peoples personal opinion. It's like being in the NFC and AFC.

After seeing this year's rankings, the BCS doesn't seem so bad. OP at #4? Come on. |

Thanks pierce. When are you guys going to start running practices for club. I have to come home for a month. It starts the 10th of December and ends the 12th of January and I need to get a couple workouts in while im in town. So i was wondering if you guys will be practicing by then and wouldn't mind if I came in. Also if you want to see our team play we will be up there from January 21st till the 23rd we will be playing hilbert and a couple other teams for the area so. It might be cool to check it out and if you could spread the word.

Here are the Section V brackets.... http://www.victorboysvolleyball.net/volleyball-news/standings
Please get rid of the Percentage column - has nothing to do with seedings last I knew and is just confusing. Here is what I have for Section V point values (which seem to match the seeding in the bracket): Sec V rating 1 Rush-Henrietta | 3.789 2 Penfield | 3.706 3 East | 3.563 4 McQuaid | 3.375 5 Irondequoit | 2.444 6 Fairport | 1.500 7 Spencerport | 1.444 8 Hilton | 0.150 9 Webster | -0.167 10 Brockport | -1.222 11 Churchville-Chili | -1.800 12 Gates-Chili | -2.688 13 Edison Tech | -3.333 14 Canandaigua | -4.813 15 Greece | -5.133

Is it true that the Class B finals are on Tuesday 11/10 and that Class A finals are on Wednesday 11/11? Aren't they usually on the same night? |

Veterans Day is on Wed and I believe schools will be closed. I figure both Class A and B will be on Tues. Q, any confirmation in this regard? |

I think this could be the best Semi match-up's I've seen in a long while. I expect two well played battles on Saturday. |

Penfield over Fairport in 3. McQuaid over RH in 4. Is this the 5th year out of the last 6 that Penfield has played McQuaid in the finals? |
