Thought for a bit there that Michigan would come out ahead...but Texas made some changes and got the win.
Penn State falls to Oregon though. Great match!

Really thought that Michigan gave it away in the fourth game.... a lot of unforced errors against a team with their backs to the wall. It seemed they got a little too happy with their successes and then got tight when the 4th game started in a deficit.
Oregon has been one of the cleanest teams all season. Great passing/defense/consistently good serving and players who seem to thrive on challenges. Fisher keeps on surprising people.
Will be interesting to see, if hitters who are unchallenged with tight sets can defeat a team that seems to have a better ball control skill set.

Really enjoyed the matches this weekend. Some thoughts-

1. Tough break for PSU with setter getting an ankle sprain. Then again, they had the ball in the hands of their top attacker twice to win set 2 after an amazing comeback and she didn't put it away. I didn't feel bad after that. O took advantage for the rest of the match. PSU returns all starters though, right? So, should be set for another push.

2. Interesting to see 2 types of play of the final teams. O and M running a much faster offense, while PSU runs a traditional height pin ball, where Texas ran a sky ball. I guess when you have those to OHs, why not? More time to adjust and less margin for error.

3. Slide is king. Ok, maybe not "king", but geez, all year long it seemed, any team that ran a good slide attack it was a .500 or better option. Go back to Minnesota- that was Dixons primary weapon. Nebraska's #20 (I think) also did a nice job behind the setter. O's main middle rode the attack through regional semis and finals. And in the end, it was Texas and their RS running the slide. Gives options and is hard to defend.

4. Hands- maybe 2 hands called in the finals? So the rule is to be loose. I get that. ...that loose? meh. I'd prefer less junky looking sets. But whatever. Just a thought. Talking mostly about the O setter I guess there. Athletic-yes. They loved calling her a "gunslinger" I thought that was funny.

5. Start a pro-indoor women's league. With as much women's college vball that is on TV now (especially with the BTN), I'd go watch matches. The only reason I was rooting for Nebraska in the regional finals was because I'd seen them 4 or 5 times during the season on BTN and knew the players. I think it would be cool. Unfortunately, probably wont happen[V]

Congrats Texas
