3-5 Serve Pass
OBJECTIVE:
Develop the middle attack from serve receive.
DIRECTIONS:
- The team is divided into two serve receive capable groups of
passers, each with a setter.
- Team 2 begins by serving to Team 1.
- The passings' team goal is to run a middle attack. This can be
anything designated by the coach (quick, slide, wide one, etc.).
- The receiving team must run 3 middle attacks before not being
able to 5 times. A missed serve counts as a success.
- The first team to their goal (passers - 3, servers - 5) earns
a point.
- The teams switch roles.
- The game is to 7 points.
- Passers should rotate each time they take the court.
VARIATIONS:
- Add a opposing middle blocker and backrow diggers.
- Not allow the middle to run the same set twice in a row.
- If the passing team is able to aggressively attack from the backrow
when they can't run the middle, this is a wash.
