2001-2002 Rule Changes for Girls and Boys High School Volleyball
The Girls Rules (NAGWS rules):
1. All non-deciding games will be thirty (30) points using the rally scoring.
This means Varsity games 1-4, and JV games 1+2, and possibly game 3 if it
is a non-deciding game. All deciding games will be fifteen (15) points using
rally scoring. There is no point cap on any game.
2. The "net" serve will be legal.
3. The server will be allowed only one toss, but have eight seconds to make
contact for service.
4. Both team's line ups are due at the end of the final timed warm-up period
on the court.
5. If a multicolored ball is used, at least one-third of it must be white
or light in color.
6. The NAGWS scoresheet is a little different to allow for the rally type
scoring system and will be used.
7. It also should be noted that the "Libero" player will NOT be
used in 2001/2002 but probably will be used in 2002/2003.
The Boys Rules (USA rules):
1. The yellow card sanction (Warning) for misconduct is eliminated. Sanctions
for Misconduct will be red card (Point or Sideout), red and yellow card
together (expulsion for game), red and yellow apart (disqualification for
the match).
2. Prior to the match each team will have a 6 minute warm up period at the
net which shall include serving.
3. There will be NO "net" serve
3. The "Libero" player and 12 substitutions with unlimited individual
entries will be used.
4. Rally scoring to twenty-five (25) points in all non-deciding games. This
means Varsity games 1-4, and JV games 1 & 2, and possibly game 3 if
it is a non-deciding game. All deciding games will be fifteen (15) points
using rally scoring. There is no point cap on any game.
5. The server will be allowed only one toss, but have eight seconds to make
contact for service.
