It's ignorant and useless posts like this one that have turned this message board into a lame chat room. Just because Queen doesn't concede everything to Fairport and still thinks her team (or any other team) still has a chance, doesn't mean she deserves any of the stupid (or in some cases) pompous comments.
What would be a more interesting line of discussion (regarding Fairport or any other contender) is what people think their strengths are...or, if they do struggle late in the playoffs, what part of their game might make them vulnerable. Does Fairport, or anyone else, have a clear, "money," go-to player who can consistently pull them through the inevitable tight spots. Who has the coaching edge (even though that part of the game is CLEARLY overrated)?
If Queen wants to challenge Fairport's apparent "pole position" going into playoffs, so what? She certainly hasn't been more obnoxious, self-preening, or insulting than...anyone else.

You might wanna check yourself. I never said that Fairport was incapible of going to the finals or werent going to make it there. There have been posts saying "who's going to be in the finals w/ fairport" and I was saying is that they're not there yet. They still have to play in the "play-offs" in order to make it there. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Only time will tell. No need for the sarcasm, Thanks.

I know that there is a lot of talk about Fairport and about the Monroe County Tournament... and there has been a lot of talk about Fairport for entire season! Most of it has come across as being negative...I know that some people don't like what QUEEN has to say. I, personally, don't always agree with what she has to say, but she has started an interesting conversation. Fairport has not gotten to finals...yet! Fairport's girls work very hard.. and it shows! Everytime they step on the court they are determined to play their best! You can tell in their faces when they are working their hardest or when they know they aren't playing to best of their ability. The girls and their coach will not settle for anything less than 100%. Even though Fairport is undefeated, they still carry a level head and will work just as hard, if not harder, to achieve their goal! They have worked way too hard to let up, even just a little bit. Fairport is a very smart and skilled team and for all the teams out there, just be prepared because Fairport is going to come out strong and play their very best! THANKS FOR READING AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF THE TEAMS!!!

i agree all fairport has done is win. it seems that whenever you reach the top you become the target. when people can't get it done on the court they talk negative about them. shut up, get into the gym and get better.

I never talked negatively about Fairport, saying they sucked or dont deserve to be in the finals or undefeated. They are a very skilled team and have the full potenital to get the job done. All I am saying is that the job is not done yet. Will Fairport make it to the finals? Most likely. Are they there yet? No. This is all I'm saying-no more.

QUEEN, I wasn't trying to say that you were saying negative things about Fairport. I was agreeing with you about Fairport and the finals. I was was just saying that most people don't like what you have to say. I was saying in general that the feelings about Fairport were negative. It wasn't directed toward you. I'm sorry if you were under that impression.

Queen... there is no need to back off of your intial thoughts and/or opinions. Your word is all that you can give. Be confident and speak your mind. It will take you where you need to go. :)

Raider 1, here's my attempt at the rundown. Large schools only, I'm afraid. This took just too long to do. The numbers indicate their seeding going into the tourney #1 Fairport: Strengths: Togetherness 4 seniors who have been contributing to the success of their varsity for a long time. Sam Carr - setter - strong & motivated. Hilary Dank - incredibly gifted hitter. Laura Predmore - tenacious fighter. Ashley Cottengim - power at the outside. As these four seniors lead, their team succeeds. Coach Keil - several years as Fairports boys and girls varsity volleyball coach, many as a JV coach. Year in, year out, Fairport has some of the most athleticly gifted teams, as one of the largest schools in Monroe County. Former Fairport alumni. DNP volleyball in college. Go to player: Dank or Cottengim, but watch out Carr is smart & canny. #2 Irondequoit: Strengths: Again senior leadership. Kristen Tanck - a high flying outside hitter, & Bess Griffin - a gifted athlete, who is taking on the setting task. Height: this group is big and strong, lots of potential. Coach Calari - many years as boys varsity coach, a few years ago also became the girls coach. Teams are always competitive & intense in their approach. Former high school setter for Spencerport. As a collegiate, he continued to compete. Weakness: When Kristen is in the back row, Ir is vulnerable. Go to: Tanck. #3 Brockport: Strengths: Overall skill. Serving. 1 starting senior - Chris Arieno is a talented outside hitter. Juniors: Jamie Hugelmaier - a tough defensive player, Danielle LeBeau - a skilled outside & Jessica Laney - a determined middle are also back from last years' championship squad. Ashley Olsheski has joined them as setter. Coach Jank - 1st year Rochester coach, a Buffalo native & Medaille grad. He coaches a private parochial school in Buffalo, as well as, assisting with the Cheetah club. Weakness: Youth, beyond the one starting senior, it is a young team. Go to: Arieno or Hugelmaier #4 Hilton: Strengths: Senior laden - together & tight Jenn Whigham - smart, athletic middle, Britni Delorenzo - fighting outside, Cori Mosher - high jumping outside, Katie Griffin - quick setter, & a solid crew of defensive specialists. Coach Forman & JV Coach Passinault direct this squad. Coach Forman is a first year Varsity coach, who apprenticed the last 2 years as a JV coach. A football coach who understands the value of positive reinforcement, his kids never give up. Coach Passinault's influence is obvious, an All American, she has initiated the middles with her middle lore & the ball often goes to Whigham on 2 balls to the middle. Weakness: Height. Hilton has 3 front row players, who play at 5'6" or less Go to: Whigham 1st or either outside #5 Penfield: Strengths: Athleticism and skill, potentially powerful Penfield is an interesting mix of athletes. Their contributions are distributed throughout the classes. Penfield has the talent to play big or play small & do so. Coach Glover - Rochester volleyball playing veteran of high school, club and collegiate experience. A few years as Penfield's coach, and many years a coach of boys programs. His experience & ability as a coach increase with each year. Weakness: Ball control Go to: tough call - would need Matt Glover's imput. #6 Gates: Strengths: Christie Gustafson - a dominant outside hitter. Program began slow, having to replace many graduations, but with time and experience have progressed. Coach Vanderhoof - long time Rochester coach, once of Gates boys, now of Roberts-Wesleyan and Gates girls. Has been to the dance many times. Weakness: height & a young squad Go to: Gustafson
Who is my money on? Well, until the seeds are proven wrong, I'll go with the seeding. The numbers indicate their seeding going into the tourney. Believe top three seeds in each class have the best chance to win.
A quick small school thought #1 Arcadia - Hibbard has some great hitters & great D. #2 Sutherland - Soloman has a lot of talent & experience, kids play hard for him & Parks. #3 Olympia - Mike has a together squad with Krystal & Ashley providing the punch #4 Batavia - Mettler has a lot of offense #5 Spencerport - Zeman teaches D & Spencerport cleans the floor with it. Has the potential to be a great small school final.

Us grad students, who are working as substitute & adjunct teachers, are a little busy, but procrastination can be a fine art, particularly when there are thesis' & major papers to write. And hey, once an analyzer, always an analyzer.
