Well put NUVB. My 2 cents... I have played in numerous fundraising events over the past 10 years in Rochester for whatever cause just to help raise money for a cause. Now with me running my own fundraisering events for some life changing disease that hit one of my family members, I reached out to the Rochester community year after year and rarely get more than 1 PLAYER to drive in to support it. Players used to play for fun and competition, the way it should be. These days I am enraged at the amount of s*** people talk on the court. For what? To make your opponents offended? To try to break down the other team? If your only focus is to win and this aids in your ability to win, then do what you have to do. I will never resort to that!! I will continue to support the Rochester fundraisers when able, but refuse to just go there to play for FUN since that seems like the furthest thing from your minds. I hope that nothing life altering EVER comes to any of you in your lifetime, because it will show you the kind of person you REALLY are and what you live for. |

Well done, gentlemen.....well done.....you have turned this forum into short novel. Here it is for you all, plain and simple. Read it and weep....
Rochester is the epicenter of Beach volleyball in upstate NY. Buffalo and Syracuse have talented players. If everyone is so concerned about who is the best, the New York State Beach Volleyball Championships will be held August 13th @ Oneida Shores in Brewerton NY. Hope to see you ALL there.

Well I gave all the fundraising information to a highly respected person in Rochester to help get the word out. Apparently my information never goes any further. So I WILL no longer ask for anyones help and POST the information here myself.
So much for team work? |

I did as mentioned above. Flyers where sent to be passed out, but nothing ever happened. Since I do not have access to mailing addresses, I would have to drive their and pass them out on my own free time on top of getting everything else in order for the event. You offering your assistance? |

When was the last time a team from NY actually won the New York State Outdoor championships ??
I remember Bailey and Robertson had quite a run until Childs showed up w/ some goon from Canada.
Or better yet, has anyone on this board actually won the thing ?
We lost in the semi's 3 times, all to Bailey and Robertson, and Danny/Randy Syracuse lost that year to Childs/Goon.
I believe Bailey and Robertson live in Virginia. |

Hey VB101 or Voice, you'e usually honest when it counts. Did last year's NYS Championships bring in the types of teams it did in the past, when the payout was $1000. Like Childs, or Danny/Randy or Heese or Bailey /Roberts ?? I remember when Lodes and Norm only got a 3 seed, and lost in the quarters.
CJ and DeForge, congratulations, I did not mean to slight anyone, I just was asking because I really did not know.
And please tell me Peg isn't involved in it anymore. Anyone remember her reffing a women's final for a grand and not calling hands for match point against Elvis' girlfriend because "it was match point, I didn't want to end it like that"
Elvis lost in the quarters that year as well as if I remember right. |

Oh and Rhino, you Matty and Jared were the exceptions, never afraid to share a good drink or a good laugh. How long did that match last ? An hour and a half ? |

It was around an hour and a half, but still not as long as the game where Jared and I played you and Scotty in the Quarters of an open tournament and we had the lightning delay. Remember that one? I believe J and I were up 11-7 or 8 and after the break you guys ran off like 7 straight points. Good times. Can you believe all this chatter on this board? I wish I was still a part of all it, but career, life, etc. has taken me in a different direction. I'm always game for a drink and a laugh though. We'll have to attend one of those gold medal squared clinics next year and enjoy some cocktails. |

Don't know about the Championships, but believe they have never stinted on the payout. Since it is a annual occasion, never really was a place where the volleyball crowd thereabouts dwindled, and they always get a good turnout, can't see how it would diminish in popularity.
Me, I'm not sure, though, because during the summer, I'd rather be at Charlotte than anywhere, so I don't often voyage to the NY state championships. Still old school enough to wish the Ugly event was at Charlotte, too, but oh well.
Kind of funny week, though. Introduced some "gold medal squared" stuff at the beach this past week. "the ball knows angles, so create the angle." and I saw great players become greater with less effort... Gave me a lot of joy to see their eventual joy. Although the initial comprehension was a bit comical to view... nothing like the 'fro' flexing with his "hollowed out chest" - shoulders in front of chest & hands together. Still the results were remarkable ... a better player. Same was true for others, too. Those USA guys in GM2 sure know how to teach teachers to teach.
Even older school news: heard Andy Radcliffe and Jackie Houghton won @ Eversummer on Sunday. Any news more old school than that?
& of course, CJ and Robby won on Saturday over Q and Rank as many of us already know; while in the women's Leone and Moe won as well. Maybe Jenny Leone should start playing men's B or A or something. Girl could be exceptional.
I hope when I'm not around people can continue to provide these updates on who is doing well and what not, otherwise us casual readers have trouble figuring out who won and etc... |

Hosting the Ugly at the beach is an interesting concept, although my team would go from a top A to a mediocre A, I like the concept of a big time beach tournament though. I remember going to the beach when I was younger for maybe Harborfest? (Q used to play with Jax, I think) with lots of volleyball and music, or maybe it just seemed bigger because I was younger? I think there's enough players to host a big time beach tourny, it would just need to be advertized though. |

When you click on Dirty Sanchez and try to e-mail, it sends to the registered e-mail address, which in this case was:
"a hotmail address"
It got returned and said that it was no longer an e-mail address.
So, Dirty you must register the e-mail address with the Administrator that you wish for people to send e-mails to. Not the fake one that you abviously aren't using anymore. |

andy and jakie won the ever-summer basicaly because jakie is amazing. It also seemed that pete's age kicked in during the final, just look at the webpage to see their second place picture and it sums it all up.
as for jen playing mens A or B i wanted her to play with me mens A or B for fun but she was not having it. your right that girl is going to be amazing.
what is this i hear that you are leaving? is there truth to this? |

Got a college coaching job in Texas. Will be out of town for the rest of the summer.
Bummer as I'll miss a lot of friends, but shoot, more than likely I'll be back. Still have a few summer's left playing or watching on the beach I hope.
One good thing is that I got a trip to Schaeller's out of it, ice cream included. Too cool. |

Dirty you seem so angry ! I wasn't being a detective, I tried to e-mail you 2 days ago. When it was sent back to me it said it was returned because the other e-mail, that I have edited, was no longer in service. I was actually trying to get you to get the account active so you could be reached, if you wished.
VB101 - Congrats. What does that pose for the club season ? Safe trip, much luck. |
